Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) launched a new report looking at 80 legal frameworks regulating indigenous and rural women’s community forest rights in 30 countries comprising 78% of the developing world’s forests. The report reveals that secure community land rights and the legal advancement of women often go hand in hand. However, none of the 30 countries analyzed adequately recognizes and respects indigenous and rural women’s tenure rights.
