Residents of Sankala zone in Lukuli Makindye Municipality face eviction after NEMA wrote to them demanding that they leave the place because they encroached on a wetland.
Led by their LC leaders, the residents have vowed not to move citing that the 21 days they were given were too few yet they have no money as they are still nursing the effects of the COVID19 lockdown.
“We have no money to pay in rent and relocate because it has been a while since we last earned due to the lockdown,” one resident said.
Kasim Ssekimpi, the LC1 chairperson Sankala zone says his resident’s financial standing isn’t strong enough hence they have nowhere to go in such a short time given to them.
